Dr. Kirkpatrick grew up in Elgin, Oklahoma where he enjoyed the rural area and worked with his father, who was a veterinarian, at his clinic and farm. He attended Oklahoma State University and obtained his bachelors degree in Physiology. He then completed his medical school training at OSU Center for Health Sciences and his surgical residency with OSU Medical Center in Tulsa. Dr. Kirkpatrick sought out additional advanced surgical training and thus completed a Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is excited to have returned to the city that he and his family loves.
During his fellowship year, he received extensive training in Laparoscopic, Robotic and Bariatric surgery. Dr. Kirkpatrick has specific interests in Bariatric/Metabolic and Foregut procedures. His training with the robot also allows him to offer a broad range of complex surgical procedures in a minimally invasive approach including hernia repair, anti reflux, colon, hepatobiliary and solid organ removal cases.
Dr. Kirkpatrick is a member of several professional medical and surgical societies including ASMBS, SAGES, ACOS, and the AOA. He has presented posters at national conferences, written research articles and contributed to surgical textbooks.
Dr. Kirkpatrick is married to his high school sweetheart and has two wonderful boys that keep him busy on his down time. Besides spending time with family, he enjoys keeping up with local sports teams, fishing and being active with his church.
